When I painted this, I was navigating through rough waters. Sometimes, as women, we give so much of ourselves, feel overwhelmed, and want to hide from everything. I remember starting this painting late into the night, in search of solace. There is a certain energy that comes with living and working in New York that can be, at times, draining: the high intensity, the pace, the feeling that if you stop moving, you'll fall behind. Surrounded by a storm of colors and movement, I painted my feelings, wanting to close my eyes, breathe, and find my little bit of quiet in a world that is often swirling with madness.

The original painting no longer exists. She has been painted over and has a new identity. The other version of Nueva York is coming soon.
