Aletheia is the Greek word for truth. It is now officially my middle name, as I never had one at birth, and I actually had it tattooed on me in Greek years ago because I love this word. It doesn’t mean truth as in factual knowledge, but truth as an unveiling, the slow and sometimes courageous act of bringing what has been hidden into the light. I don’t know of a word similar to it in English. I wanted to paint the idea of this, but really had no plan, and what came out of it was this beautiful woman, like a goddess, holding that revealed truth in her hands, unhidden, empowered by everything it reveals.
