The Inspiration
Approximately every 29 to 30 days, I go out and make sure to see that month’s full moon. I check the time of moonrise, and if the weather cooperates, I look for that first glimpse as it rises above the horizon. It never loses its magic. Maybe it’s a bit woo-woo, but for me, some full moons have an energy you can feel in your body, the kind of moon that you can’t seem to stop looking for in the night sky. I love the interplay in this painting between that raw celestial force and her stillness, which captures an undeniable sense of being moved by nature.
Materials and Surface
Professional-grade alcohol inks on Yupo paper. Because Yupo is non-porous, the pigments pool and layer on the surface rather than absorbing in, producing a luminous, glass-like finish with unusual depth.
